“Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.”
School, as an institution provides the best platform to children to learn together and grow together in a joyful environment Joyful learning means bringing the element of happiness and joy while learning. The ancient ‘Gurukul’ system of education was the classical format of ‘Experiential Learning’ which leads to an outcome of joyful learning, adopted by DWPS NE, includes Activity-based learning, Sport Integrated learning,Collaborative learning, learning by doing, Art Integrated learning, Fun, Games and studies, and Inquiry based learning. Innumerable opportunities and varied exposure add joy to the
children’s lives in simple situations like Splash pool and swimming time, Art, Music, Dance and Theatre and Reading time and Sports and games.Education is not just to pass examination, take a degree and a job, but also to be able to listen to the birds, to see the sky, to see extraordinary beauty of a tree, the shape of the hills and to feel them, to be directly in touch with them. Joyful learning can only be imparted in a joyful environment, it cannot be limited to classroom learning only Hence in DWPS NE Field trips are organised to develop a connect with Nature. As it gives a
multisensory experience of learning (auditory, visual, tactile and kinesthetics).DWPS, NE as pioneers have been making consistent endeavours in creating a joyful world for all the children to bloom and unfold themselves into fragrant flowers. Researches conducted validates the fact that when the element of fun is missing from the learning, the element of actual learning also remains missing. Neuroscientists have studied that optimal learning takes place when students are engaged ,motivated and are under minimal stress as that time they have high cognitive abilities, make
connections and experience “AHA” moments. Our teachers design lesson plans in such a way that they excite students towards learning, challenge their thinking, elevate level of dopamine and reduce stress and anxiety. In the modern digital world the blended form of learning is in vogue, such as DIY (Do it Yourself) experiments, simple videos, and Robotics to make learning interesting and enjoyable. The personalised care, attention, and approachability of the facilitators – the faculty members help the children feel happy, comfortable and above all they consider the school as a haven of security. The
‘speaking walls’ fill the children with amazement and wonder, believing that learning happens in a more engaging and joyful manner much beyond the classrooms. In a nutshell , Sharing and ‘Fun Time Together’ during recess augments their joyful time. The ‘Bagless Learning days’ and the ‘Joyful Friday Initiative’ which is in the offing, are meant for sheer excitement for the children and their life’s greatest adventure. Therefore, across the curriculum emphasis is laid on activity based joyful learning to help children attain the ‘AHA!’ moment or the ‘IKIGAI’ which propels a child to get out of the bed with immense joy and
happiness to achieve the purpose of his life
